Dover Health Acquires Chicago-Area Hospice, Home Health Agencies

St. Louis-based Dover Health has expanded into the Chicago region with the purchase of Centered Care Hospice and Palliative Care and Cornerstone Home Health.

With this deal, Dover expands to nine Illinois counties to complement its five-county footprint in Missouri. The transaction will enable Dover Health to expand its scale and offer enhanced benefits and technology to clinical staff and patients, according to a press release.

“We are committed to giving our caregiving team the time and resources needed to truly engage with each patient,” said Steven Burghart, president of Dover Health, in a statement. “Our mission is to help every senior and their family thrive through personalized, holistic health and wellness.”

Dover Health is a subsidiary of the senior living and health care services operator The Dover Companies, which launched the home health and hospice business in March. The fledgling company offers patients a suite of wraparound services, including for the terminally ill, to support quality of life and aging in place.

Its parent organization also operates senior living, pharmacy, development, independent living, personal care, assisted living and memory care businesses, among others. The Dover Companies’ other brands include Cedarhurst Senior Living, Medicine Express Long-Term Care Pharmacy, Dover Development, Dover Capital and Brahms Construction.

The company’s growth plans are focused on Midwestern markets, Brandy Pratt, vice president of hospice for Dover Health, told Hospice News in an email when the company launched.

“Patient-centric care is at the heart of everything we do,” Pratt said in a statement. “Timely admissions and frequent visits by our care team ensure our patients’ needs are met effectively and compassionately.”
