1Care Enters Behavioral Market with Reset Acquisition

Nevada-based 1Care Hospice, part of 1Care Health, recently acquired Reset Behavior Health for an undisclosed amount.

The transaction expanded the pediatric hospice and palliative provider’s geographic footprint in its home state while also marking its entrance into the behavioral health market, according to 1Care Hospice and 1Care Kids COO Eddie Belluomini.

The acquisition will allow for deepened mental health support for serious and terminally ill children and their families, Belluomini said.

“1Care is expanding its umbrella into the pediatric industry,” Belluomini told Hospice News in an email. “By acquiring Reset Behavior, we will now be able to provide [applied behavior analysis (ABA)] in the entire state of Nevada. One of the missing elements to hospice is being able to provide extensive behavioral health services to pediatric patients and young children of adult hospice patients.”

Las Vegas-based Reset Behavior Health provides ABA behavior assessments and support, professional training and child education services. Through the deal, 1Care acquired the rights to three of Reset Behavior Health’s locations.

1Care Hospice and 1Care Kids’ provides interdisciplinary hospice and palliative services to adult and pediatric populations. The company provides bereavement services, dietary, physical, occupational and speech therapies, as well as child life specialist, among other services. The provider also offers care to adult populations, with a service region that spans Las Vegas and surrounding areas.

1Care was launched in October 2020 by a group of hospice and palliative care leaders with nursing experience. The company began offering services in January 2021 and currently has an average daily census of more than 400 patients.

The hospice and palliative care provider expects its census to swell upwards of 500 patients by the end of 2024 through strategic growth and merger activity, Belluomini said.

1Care is set to complete its next acquisition on June 1, purchasing Urgent Care Home Health, dba as Leapfrog Pediatric Home Care. The provider offers home health and private duty services across northern Nevada.

The deal represents another move into service diversification Belluomini stated. 1Care Hospice’s pediatric team will work “hand-in-hand” with Leapfrog to bring greater access and support to children and their families, he added.

“1Care will continue to position itself to be a leader in the pediatric hospice care by providing hospice and palliative care, pediatric private duty nursing and ABA services,” Belluomini said. “This will bridge the many gaps of care our families experience on a daily basis from long-waiting gaps of care from other private duty and ABA clinics. We will continue to help our families by giving them patient choice of all-round services and care.”
