MedArrive, a home-based care logistics and services company, has received $25 million in Series A funding, with venture capital firm Section 32 leading the round. MedArrive will apply the infusion of capital to spur product development and geographic expansion.
MedArrive leverages telehealth, emergency medical services (EMS) and other skilled providers to provide a range of home-based services, chronic condition management, transitional care, readmission prevention, urgent care, and palliative care, among others.
Additional participants in the Series A round included new investors 7wireVentures and Leaps by Bayer, as well as some of the company’s existing stakeholders, Define Ventures, Kleiner Perkins, and Redesign Health.
“We will continue to enhance the patient and Field Provider experience making it easier for all our key stakeholders and further enhance our core platform capabilities,” Dan Trigub, co-founder and CEO of MedArrive, told Hospice News. “Our approach helps underserved populations overcome healthcare barriers by meeting them where they are and coordinating care with physicians they trust.”
MedArrive has been on a growth trajectory during 2021. The company has begun new partnerships with a number of payers, ACOs and government agencies. The company launched in late 2020 with backing from the venture capital firm Redesign Health with an initial focus on the Florida market.
The company also secured $4.5 million in seed money from investment firms Kleiner Perkins and Define Ventures. MedArrive now offers services in New Jersey, Florida and California.
SCAN Group, parent company of SCAN Health Plan, invested an undisclosed amount in MedArrive earlier this year. SCAN began partnering with MedArrive as a preferred provider of home-based services, including a joint effort to vaccinate homebound patients for COVID-19.
Since the company launched in Dec. 2020, MedArrive has doubled the size of its workforce, expanded into new states and facilitated thousands of home visits. The company currently operates in California, Florida, New Jersey, North Carolina and Texas.
Forthcoming expansion plans will prioritize growth in Florida, Texas, North Carolina, and California, Trigub said. MedArrive expects to enter new states, to again double the size of its team, and to accelerate product development following the Series A round.
“COVID-19 incited a shift towards receiving care in the home and has motivated health plans and health systems to partner with solutions enabling transformational change towards at-home care,” said Alyssa Jaffee, partner at 7wireVentures. “We’re proud to partner with the MedArrive team at such a pivotal time in the company’s growth to extend medical services into the home, improve consumer experiences and outcomes, better utilize the healthcare workforce and drive cost savings.”
