[UPDATED] Caring Brands International Purchases Interim HealthCare of San Diego

Caring Brands International subsidiary Interim HealthCare has purchased one of its franchise locations from its owner. The company also bolstered its international presence with home health acquisitions in Australia and Ireland.

The company’s acquisition of its California-based Interim HealthCare of San Diego was prompted by the former owner’s retirement. The San Diego operations will continue to operate as a stand alone subsidiary of Caring Brands International.

“When the existing franchise owner decided to retire, she wanted to ensure that her staff and patients were taken care of, and that her legacy of dedicated service was upheld,” Jennifer Sheets, president and CEO of Caring Brands International and Interim HealthCare, Inc. told Hospice News. “It was a natural fit to have Interim HealthCare’s corporate entity purchase her operations to ensure a continuation of the great standard of care IHC of San Diego has provided over the years.

The San Diego operation is expected to remain an Interim subsidiary for the foreseeable future. The company does not have immediate plans to sell the franchise, according to Sheets.

Interim’s franchise business model is unique in health care. Franchise owners in the network range from large private equity investors to mom-and-pop startups, some of which have been in the owners’ families for two or three generations.

The company recently ranked No. 1 in the senior care category of Entrepreneur magazine’s annual Franchise 500. In addition to hospice and palliative care, the company’s franchisees provided home health care, home pediatric care, health care staffing and senior care services.

“With our latest acquisition of Interim HealthCare of San Diego, we are excited to support the growth of strategically selected managed locations in the United States that will help even more patients obtain the quality care they need in the preferred and most efficient and effective site of care: their home,” Sheets said.

The Caring Brands International parent company also recently purchased Just Better Care, a home care provider in Sydney, Australia. In addition, Caring Brands’ subsidiary Bluebird Care Franchises Ltd. acquired the Irish Master Franchise business from Clemac Ltd. in Ireland, which holds 26 home health locations.
